Did you know that we offer in-home design consultations?
Have you ever wandered into our store and fallen in love with one of our vignettes or tablescapes, saying to yourself, “I wish I could have that whole entire look”, or perhaps you just don’t know where to start in pulling individual items that will work in a particular space at home? We do our best to help you in store, but did you know that we can offer you a more customized design consultation right in your home where we can actually see your design challenges and understand your style and home decor needs better? Your home is an expression of you. Our experienced style consultants at Modern Accents can help choose the right products for furnishing, entertaining or accessorizing any room in your home. You might need help with every room in your home, or maybe you just need help pulling things together for a mantel, dining room table or smaller area in your home. Regardless we would love to help you.

Please contact us if a home-consulation interests you and we can discuss the process in more detail based on your particular needs. In the meantime here are a few tips to help you get prepared for a consulation and get the most out of your time with us:
1. Give thoughtful consideration to your space and lifestyle
Consider how you currently use your space, how you want to use it, how you want it to look, and how you want to feel at home. Be honest with us because part of designing a home that is beautiful and functions with your lifestyle is getting to know that lifestyle. Make us aware of everyone who will be making use of the space so we can get a better understanding of how you will live in it and what is most important to you.
2. Have an open mind
Being open to our suggestions can be the secret ingredient to an amazing final design. After all this is probably why you have requested the consultation in the first place. You wanted someone else’s advice. We request that you be open and ready to consider ideas or compromises that you may normally discount or maybe had never thought about before.
3. Clarify your personal style
Let us know which style of design you are drawn to. If you aren’t sure, think about what styles inspire you in general: share your favorite fashion designers with us, think about hotels or restaurants with decor that blew you away or maybe even something you saw in our store. Sometimes letting us know which design elements you don’t like and are “must not include” can help narrow down a direction as well.
4. Have visual examples
This isn’t a must, but sometimes using Pinterest boards, pictures from magazines, or even photos from our own social media feeds or store can be immensely helpful in clarifying likes and dislikes. From your inspiration photos, we can clarify your preferred color palette, art style, and other tastes in design.
5. Communicate your must-haves
Budget and timeline are included here, but also don’t forget to communicate other things like which pieces you want to keep or if certain things need to stay in a certain place to go along with your lifestyle. We’ll make sure to tailor our design so that it incorporates those things that you can’t live without. You might even want the design to be inspired by a special keepsake or art-piece so make sure to let us know.
7. Ask Questions
Take time to write out a list of questions you might have about the design process. It’s always better to have questions answered up-front than unexpectedly halfway through the design process.
