2025 – Do It In Style

What are the goals for you interiors in 2025? Instead of referring to what is ahead for interior design in 2025 in terms of “Design Trends” we wanted to start by having you think about what your interior’s mean to you and how they tell a story about how you live and what you love. One of the top takeaways from our own research into what other designers, design publications etc. are predicting for 2025 is this idea that the trend this year is actually not to follow trends at all, but to embrace uniqueness and spaces that are more personal. An eclectic blend of, new furniture, inherited pieces and decor pieces that are curated just for you rather than a space that is staged or a copy of someone else’s’ design.

Now saying all that there are still some design elements/styles that are predicted to be popular this year and keep in mind you can pick and choose from them depending on how you want to feel in your interiors. Also many of the options will help you achieve a timeless look and not just a trendy one…

Sustainable and Natural Materials

Sustainability continues to take center stage in interior design and natural materials such as bamboo, cork, and wood are top choices for decor pieces and furniture.

In 2025, eco-conscious living will go beyond just materials—it’s also about creating functional spaces that support a sustainable lifestyle and the goal of many homeowners will be to look for pieces that are long-lasting and timeless.

Warm, Earthy Tones

Neutral, earthy tones will continue to be embraced in 2025 as people seek to create calming, nature-inspired environments. Think warm terracotta, soft browns, rich tans, ochers, and deep greens. These colors evoke feelings of tranquility and connection to nature, which is essential in a world that feels increasingly fast-paced and digital. Pair these tones with natural textures like wood, stone, marble and linen to add depth and warmth. Earthy hues can be incorporated into everything from paint, furniture, table top accents, art and even rugs.

The desire for calm and comfort in design is also evident by this year’s chosen Pantone colour of the year, Mocha Mousse. “A warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort,” according to the Pantone Colour Institute.

This adoption of rich brown also translates into the wood tones predicted to be popular this year. Rich, dark wood tones such as walnut, mahogany, ebony, and oak are being embraced for their ability to create a sense of luxury and timelessness.

Colour Drenching

Speaking of colour. Why not go all in and try this immersive trend of 2025 called colour drenching?!? This is the bold design technique where an entire room or space is enveloped in a single, rich color. This trend moves beyond accent walls or small pops of color and instead creates a visually stunning environment where walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture all share the same tone, creating a harmonious and enveloping atmosphere.

We may not have the paint for your walls in store, but we have plenty of home accents in whatever colour you choose for your colour drenched space.

Curved, Organic Shapes

2025 will see softer, more organic shapes rein supreme. Curved furniture, such as round sofas, oval tables, and sculptural chairs, will take center stage in living rooms and bedrooms. These rounded shapes create a sense of comfort and flow, helping to soften the overall aesthetic of a room.

Expect to see curved architecture and interior design elements, such as arched doorways, rounded walls, and flowing patterns and if you aren’t ready to undertake renovations to get those arches you desire you could consider selecting arched or curved mirrors instead. The emphasis on these smooth, organic forms will promote a sense of balance and calm in your living spaces.

Maximalism: Bold, Eclectic Interiors

We already touched on this a bit at the beginning, but in 2025 there will be a return to Maximalism – an exciting, bold trend that encourages self-expression through eclectic and layered interiors. Maximalism allows homeowners to mix colors, patterns, and textures in a way that feels personal and dynamic.

Don’t be afraid to try vibrant accent walls, rich jewel tones, and statement-making artwork paired with unique furniture pieces. Maximalist spaces will also incorporate diverse textures like velvet, leather, and mixed metals. You decide as this design style is all about you.

Vintage and Retro Revival

Nostalgia will play a big role in 2025’s design aesthetic. From mid-century modern furnishings to retro-inspired accent, design styles borrowed from the past can help you infuse character and charm into contemporary interiors. The idea of “timeless” design will come back into play as people seek pieces with history and uniqueness. Expect to see a resurgence of 1970s-style décor, with bold patterns, vibrant colors, and distinctive textures making a comeback.

We would also like to note that keeping on that theme of comfort look for beds, sofas, coffee tables and sideboards that are sitting low to the floor in 2025, bringing a sense of ease and informality reminiscent of the laid back styles of the 1970s. It’s the kind of furniture that invites lounging.

Sensorial Spaces

As people continue to prioritize mental well-being, homeowners will embrace the idea of transforming their homes into places of calm, where they can unwind, recharge, and disconnect from the demands of everyday life. A great ideas is to even create areas in the home dedicated to comfort and luxury like a yoga, meditation or reading space. Simple, minimalist designs combined with natural elements like stone, wood, and plants will set the tone for these peaceful retreats.

There is also this idea of creating sensorial spaces in 2025, which incorporates textures, scents, sounds, and lighting to create immersive environments. Think soft rugs, aromatic candles, soothing music, and adjustable lighting.

Bold, Statement Lighting

Lighting will become more than just functional in 2025—it will be a statement. Bold, sculptural light fixtures in unexpected shapes and materials will add personality and flair to any room. From oversized chandeliers to unique pendant lights, sconces and creative floor lamps, lighting will be a focal point in many interior designs. Some designers are suggesting that there will more likely be a move away from bulky, oversized light fixtures in favor of more delicate, elegant designs, but again your design so your choice.
